A 77kWh battery (VW ID.4) takes approximately 9 hours for a full charge — ideal for overnight charging at home. Charging at reduced currents (16A / 3.7kW) doubles charging time but reduces peak demand on your home’s electrical installation and can be integrated with solar self-consumption management.

The TeltoCharge’s built-in Wi-Fi and OCPP 1.6J protocol compliance enable integration with home energy management systems and EV charge management platforms. The TeltoCharge Type 2 socket is compatible with all electric vehicles sold in South Africa that use Type 2 onboard charging, including BMW i3, BMW iX, Nissan Leaf, Nissan Ariya, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Volvo C40, Volkswagen ID.3, Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Mini Electric. Does the TeltoCharge work with all electric vehicles in South Africa?
The TeltoCharge has a Type 2 socket compatible with all EVs sold in South Africa that support AC Type 2 charging. Tesla vehicles require a Type 2 to Tesla adapter. CHAdeMO or CCS DC fast charging is not supported — the TeltoCharge is an AC Mode 3 charger only.
Can the TeltoCharge be connected to solar panels?
Yes, indirectly. When paired with an energy management system that supports OCPP or dynamic current control, the TeltoCharge can be instructed to reduce or increase charge current based on available solar generation, enabling solar-powered EV charging with minimal grid import.
